Barcelona let go of Luis Suarez in the summer of 2020 after former Catalan president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, deemed him to be “too old” to play for a club like Barca. The Uruguayan striker was one of the best number nines in the world and although he was not scoring an insane amount of goals each season, he was still consistent and provided a decent tally at the end of each season. This was not enough for the president and thus he sold the player to Atletico Madrid. Barca did not find anyone to replace him with but they did bring in Sergio Aguero the next season.

The Argentine came to Barcelona to play with Lionel Messi, his best friend, however, Messi left for Paris and Aguero was left a bit disappointed. He still played his best for the Blaugrana until he sadly came down with a heart problem in the middle of the game. He was forced to retire from the sport soon after. In a recent interview with Stake.com, he was asked what he thinks about the Barca transformation under Xavi Hernandez and he said,
"“I see a lot of happiness at Barcelona because of how they are playing right now.“They have improved a lot since Xavi’s arrival and their distinctive style of play is starting to show again. He has played a few matches as manager, but you can already see his influence.“I’m very happy because I know the players well and know how much they love the club”_Source Goal via Stake.com"
He went on to say that he was very happy for the team and he was happy that youngsters are being used properly. He went on to say that the restoration will not be easy and that there will be bumps on the road ahead however, if the Catalans can stick together, they can become the best once again.
