Barcelona have signed the deadliest striker in world football.

Robert Lewandowski scored an astonishing 344 times in 374 games for Bayern Munich, including a jaw dropping 50 times in 46 outings last year, and is now officially on his way to the Camp Nou.

Barcelona announced today that the Polish international has passed his medical, linking up with his new tea mates on their tour of Florida, and will join Blaugranes on a four-year contract for a fee of almost €50 Million, leaving the German champions as their all-time second highest scorer behind the great Gerd Muller. He won the Bundesliga title every season he was there. This is a signing that should have all Culers hot with anticipation. Imagine Xavi employing a 4-3-3 formation where Lewandowski is the front man, with Ansu Fati attacking from the left side and fellow new signing Raphinha streaking down the right. Or, if you want to get even wilder, imagine a scenario that pairs the Pole with fellow striker Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng. Truly, the mind boggles. It’s enough to fry any LaLiga defense and leave them quaking in their burned-out boots. After completing his medical in a blue ‘Culers’ t-shirt, Lewa was clearly fired up, declaring with great conviction; ‘Barcelona are back.’

Son of a judo world champion father and volleyball playing mother, he possesses an unimpeachable work ethic, embodying all the qualities of a classic Number 9; strength, pace, height, balance and an almost innate sense of positioning, knowing both where ball will be and where the goal is. Ice cold and clinical, he is as deadly on the pitch as his karate Olympic medalist wife Anna is on the mats.

“Lewandowski is the most professional player I have ever met,” Barcelona’s immortal former player and coach Pep Guardiola once said, after managing the forward during their time together in the German capital. “He thinks about the right food, sleep and training, 24 hours a day. He’s always there, never injured, because he focuses on these things, and he knows what’s important to be in the best condition.”

One almost gets the impression that he is some sort of unforgiving cyborg, sent to Earth purely to score goals at a devastating rate. El Terminador.

Why Lewa Chose Barcelona

“Barcelona had problems last season” he recently said. “But the club has incredible potential and has made good transfers now. I think the club is on the right track – back to the top. My goal is very clear to get up there with Barça and win trophies.”

He went on to say how Xavi had been instrumental in his decision to join.

‘I have been speaking with Xavi and I know that from the beginning I know his mind and his ideas are going in a good way. For me, he made it easy for me to come to Barcelona.”

Such was his desire to join the Catalan giants, in fact, that Lewy apparently took a 25 per cent pay cut to come here. There’s no way he would have done that if he was only coming for the weather. Clearly, he sees what Xavi is trying to build and can easily see how he fits in. sure, he wants to be part of an historic club like Barca, but under no circumstances is he coming so that he can tell his grandchildren he did so, while actually just being put out to stud. Quite simply, he isn’t built like that. He’s coming here to win, and to win now. Given that his time in Bavaria had clearly run its course, even with his advancing years he could have more or less taken his pick of big clubs to move to. The two-time Best FIFA Men’s Player, who was criminally robbed of the Ballon D’or last year (albeit in favour of Barca God Lionel Messi) chose Barcelona.

Now he has his wish.

And hopefully the LaLiga title in his sights.

Fins a la vista, baby.
