Frenchman Jules Kounde has not yet been registered for Barcelona, and the player will be able to leave the club for free in ten days if Barca fails to do so. As a result, Kounde has been ruled out of the game against Sociedad alongside American defender Sergiño Dest.

The drama revolving around French centre-back Jules Kounde continues as Barcelona has once again failed to register their newly signed defender for their away game against Real Sociedad. Earlier this month, the 23-year-old centre-back made his Barcelona debut against Mexican side Pumas UNAM in the Joan Gamper Trophy, coming off as a substitute in the second half. However, since then, Barcelona’s financial issues have forced them into a decision to leave a player out of their squad until some transfer moves are made. That player is Jules Kounde, who could leave Camp Nou for free if not registered before the end of the transfer window.

Signed for 55 million euros from LaLiga rivals Sevilla, Kounde is a young centre-back who has proved himself for club and country as a talented defender with incredible ability physically and with the ball on his feet, something essential for a Blaugrana defender. The Frenchman has been a superb signing for FC Barcelona, mainly due to Barca’s defensive struggles last season. Nevertheless, Barcelona’s issues financially have left fans thinking that the club might have overspent on attacking players instead of improving the defensive side of Xavi’s men.

Los Cules are short on time, and in just ten days, their new defender could leave the club for free and sign with any other team. Something that Barcelona are trying to avoid by putting other players such as Aubameyang and Memphis Depay on the market. Until then, Xavi must let the Barca board do their job and focus on getting the squad ready for a challenging game in San Sebastian.
