Barcelona’s coach, Xavi Hernandez, said that Barcelona is Leo Messi’s home and that the latter has the door open to return to Barcelona. In a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s match with Manchester United in the Europa League, Xavi hinted that a return of Messi to Barcelona is possible.

“Messi knows that Barcelona is his home and the doors are open, I said this many times”, said Xavi. The Barcelona boss further emphasized that he is in constant contact with Leo Messi. “He’s my friend — we are in permanent contact, a potential return will only depend on him. Leo is the best player in history, he’d always fit in”, he added.

These comments of Xavi come after the meeting that Leo Messi’s father, Jorge Messi had with FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta on February 16.

Barcelona has their doors open for a Lionel Messi return

Lionel Messi’s PSG contract expires on June 30 and he has not yet signed a new agreement. The Argentine had joined PSG in the summer of 2021, signing a two-year contract back then.

There is now excitement among Barcelona fans since Messi’s father himself has confirmed that the relationship between Messi’s camp and Barcelona, specifically with club president Joan Laporta, is positive.
