Former Barcelona star hints at desire to return to the La Liga club

Barcelona headed to the Spanish capital to face Real Madrid with a squad bereft of confidence following frustrating results at Manchester United and Almeria.
But the performance from Xavi’s men to grind out a 1-0 win at Santiago Bernabeu ensured the club faithful returned to Catalunya with a belief that they can go toe to toe with the best.
The same sense of optimism was on display on Twitter, with a number of Barcelona fans convinced a former player is pushing for a return to Spotify Camp Nou.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored 13 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions during his short stint at Barcelona, was watching El Clásico on Thursday night.
Former Barcelona star hints he wants to return to the club
Interestingly, he made sure to let everyone know of the same by posting a picture to his Instagram Story.
As expected, this was enough to excite some Barca supporters.
One fan tweeted: “He’s coming lol.”
“They should bring him back,” another said.
Aubameyang only left Barcelona at the start of the season to reunite with former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea. However, following his sacking, the striker has seldom started for the Premier League outfit. Tuchel’s successor, Graham Potter, has instead preferred Kai Havertz.
Further, following Joao Felix’s arrival from Atletico Madrid, Chelsea decided to drop Aubameyang from their Champions League squad.
Considering his situation at Stamford Bridge, it’s very likely the 33-year-old will be made available for sale in the summer. As such, a return to Barcelona can’t be ruled out.
Following Memphis Depay’s transfer to Atletico Madrid in January, Xavi suggested he needs a new attacker, but the La Liga leaders failed to bring anyone during the winter window. As such, in Robert Lewandowski’s absence against Real Madrid, the Barcelona manager was forced to start Ferran Torres in the middle of his attack.
Keeping Lewandowski’s age in mind, it’d be very risky for Barcelona to go another window without signing another striker.
