Barcelona fans seemingly enjoyed Manchester United’s thrashing at the hands of Liverpool in the Premier League more than their own crucial 1-0 win over Valencia on the same day, all because of one player.

The Blaugrana exited the Europa League in February following a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford. Barca took the lead through Robert Lewandowski’s goal from the penalty spot, but United’s aggressive approach in the second half proved too much for the visitors, who fell apart to concede quick goals from Fred and Antony.

The game highlighted Barcelona’s struggles in possession in the absence of Pedri, who missed the tie after suffering a thigh injury against the Red Devils a week earlier.

Pedri’s importance to Xavi’s side wasn’t the only post-match talk involving the Spanish midfielder. Barcelona fans took notice of United youngster Alejandro Garnacho’s celebrations at the full-time whistle.

The Madrid-born winger apparently took a dig at Pedri by copying his trademark celebration. He then went on to post a picture on Twitter, with the caption, ‘The big team goes through’.

As expected, Barcelona faithful wasted no time in adding to the misery of the Argentine talent following United’s 7-0 defeat against Liverpool. He came off the bench just before the hour mark, but unlike his impressive cameo against the Catalan outfit, Garnacho failed to make any positive impact and witnessed his side concede four more goals.

Several fans shared fail compilations of the United forward, and a few others sarcastically dubbed him “the Golden Boy”. Just another day on social media.

With the games coming thick and fast, Xavi will want Pedri available sooner rather than later. As for Garnacho, he’ll be aiming to forget the Anfield outing as soon as possible and continue on his upward trajectory.
