Ansu Fati, at 16, was considered the next jewel of FC Barcelona, as he burst on the scene with a goal just six days after his debut. At 20, he divides opinion like no other player in Spain. Injury-riddled past few seasons, change of management, and Lionel Messi’s departure have all impacted and stagnated the dynamic forward’s development in one way or another.

Barcelona have chopped and changed their attack on more than one occasion since Messi moved to Paris Saint-Germain. And Fati hasn’t necessarily found joy playing alongside every new arrival since then. Now it seems things are far from ideal off the pitch as well.

According to Catalan journalist Joan Fontes (via Barca Universal), Fati and Ferran Torres – Barcelona’s first big signing after Messi’s exit – do not have a good relationship. In January, the Spanish stars were eating at the same restaurant and didn’t even ‘greet each other’.

Further, during the La Liga clash against Valencia last weekend, Torres declined Fati’s request to take the penalty. His attempt from the spot went wide of the post.

Torres, akin to Fati, have struggled to find regular minutes under Xavi, and it won’t surprise many if either one or both of the forwards leave Camp Nou in the summer.

A report (via The Sun), suggests that Fati, who has only managed 10 starts this season, has been offered to half of Europe by his agent Jorge Mendes. Premier League trio Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool are all interested in securing  his services despite his contract running until 2027.

Another attacking reshuffle at Barcelona cannot be ruled out considering Robert Lewandowski’s age, Ousmane Dembélé’s contract situation, and Fati and Torres’ unconvincing performances. And both the club and the players must come to a decision in the summer that inspires a much better future in the final third for everyone
