Transfer plans for the summer are underway at Barcelona despite uncertainty brought upon by the Negreira case as well as the club’s financial situation.

According to multiple reports (Jijantes and SPORT), Barcelona president Joan Laporta and director of football Matue Alemany held a meeting with Jorge Mendes in Porto earlier this week.

The super agent represents some of the biggest names in the game, including key players at Barca and a few of the stars who have been linked with the club ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is thought that Ansu Fati, Alejandro Balde, Bernardo Silva, Marco Asensio and João Cancelo are some of the names discussed in the meeting between the Blaugrana and Mendes (via Gerard Romero).

Fati and Balde have enjoyed a contrasting spell under Xavi, to say the least. Balde’s impressive performances have led to suggestions of a new long-term contract, while Fati may have to reevaluate his options amid a lack of regular starts this season.

The same could be said about Cancelo, who continues to struggle for guaranteed minutes even after swapping Manchester City for Bayern Munich. Asensio’s situation is no different, with Carlo Ancelotti largely preferring to use the Spaniard as an impact substitute rather than a starter. The Real Madrid star will be a free agent in the summer.

Silva is the most high-profile name on the list. The Portugal international is a player who has admirers at both City and Barcelona. Following his side’s historic 7-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League last night, Pep Guardiola showered praise on Silva’s pressing ability.

"“Bernardo is f**king intuitive. Bernardo has the ability to press three players in two minutes, there is not one player who can do that. Not one,” Guardiola said."

For the Portuguese genius, options will be aplenty should he decide to leave the Premier League outfit at the end of the season. Barcelona will hope they are high on his wishlist.
