Barcelona are in a tough situation as the latest ban placed on them by La Liga for failing to meet their Financial Fair Play regulations requires them to raise more than €200 million with the help of player sales and wage cuts. This not only complicated all the renewal plans the club had for their existing squad members but also makes it difficult to sign reinforcements in the summer transfer window.

Despite this, President Joan Laporta is optimistic about bringing new faces to Camp Nou with the signing of a new full-back, centre-back and striker being prioritized. However, the La Liga giants haven’t stopped scouting the market for other positions with midfielders and forwards being linked with the Catalans.

Barcelona boss keen on signing Juventus superstar

According to Calciomercatoweb, the Spanish side are interested in signing Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa with manager Xavi Hernandez ready to sell both Ousmane Dembele and Ferran Torres in order to fund the transfer of the Euro 2020 winner.

Despite Barca’s financial situation, Chiesa’s move is believed to be possible considering the sporting situation at Juventus after the deduction of points due to their scandal. With the Italian giants likely to miss out on Champions League football with many reports claiming that UEFA could expel the Old Lady from partaking in any European competition, several high-value superstars might force an exit in the summer.

The report claims that Juve are expecting a transfer fee of around €70-80 million for their 25-year-old star with Xavi said to be prepared to part ways with two of his wingers. The latest injury to Dembele has made everyone at the club wary of the injury-prone past of the French International, which has made them consider his sale. Meanwhile, Torres has yet to find a permanent role under Xavi who is ready to consider the Spaniard’s departure.
