Jorge Mendes, the representative of Ansu Fati, has reportedly assured the board of directors of FC Barcelona that he will bring an offer of €70 million for the young star this summer. Fati, who is a product of Barça’s youth academy, has not been included in Xavi Hernández‘s plans for the team, and the club is considering selling him in the upcoming transfer window to generate funds.

According to reports, Mendes is attempting to reassure Barcelona that he will bring a club from the English Premier League that will put €70 million on the table for Fati. However, the identity of the interested club has not been disclosed.

Despite the promising offer, there are still two unknowns in the situation. The first is whether Fati is willing to continue playing for the club, and the second is whether Mendes can deliver on his promise to bring an offer of this amount. If the offer does come to fruition, it could be a significant boost to Barcelona’s finances, as Fati is a homegrown player and therefore there is no outstanding amortization to consider, meaning all income from his sale would go straight to the club’s revenues.

Barcelona open to selling Ansu Fati

Barcelona is said to be open to hearing offers for Fati, and Mendes’ reassurances may offer some comfort to the club’s management. It remains to be seen whether the Premier League club will follow through with the reported €70 million offer and whether Fati is willing to leave the club he has been with since he was ten years old.

While the idea of selling a homegrown superstar like Fati goes against the club’s desires, their current financial situation has forced their hands. The Catalan giants are in need of reducing their wage bill by an enormous amount before signing any new players in the summer transfer window and this will definitely mean the departure of any players that are deemed surplus by coach Xavi.
