FC Barcelona is reportedly eyeing Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria to strengthen their midfield for next season. Despite an unsuccessful loan spell at Chelsea this season, Zakaria remains on the radar of the Catalan club, according to Fichajes.

Barcelona had attempted to sign Zakaria in January 2022, but Juventus secured the player’s services instead. However, the club’s interest in Zakaria has not waned, and coach Xavi Hernández reportedly sees the Swiss as a key player in bolstering the team’s midfield.

Zakaria’s loan spell at Stamford Bridge was not ideal, with the player struggling to make an impact and underperforming. However, the Blaugranas believe that Zakaria can regain his form under the guidance of Xavi and become a fundamental player in the team’s midfield.

At 26 years old, Zakaria brings a combination of strength, stamina, and skill that makes him a well-rounded and versatile player. His experience in Serie A and the Bundesliga, where he played for Borussia Mönchengladbach, adds weight to his credentials as a potential signing for the Catalans.

Zakaria’s market price is €20 million, which is within Barca’s reach for the upcoming transfer window. The club has worked hard to balance its finances recently, and the departure of high-salary players has provided room for signings.
