Lionel Messi’s time in the French capital is all but over, with PSG’s decision to suspend their superstar forward for an authorized trip being seen as the final breaking point. The Argentina international is now heavily linked with a return to Barcelona.

But the drama at Parc des Princes is unlikely to end with just one massive exit.

This week, about 100 people gathered outside the home of Neymar and asked the Brazilian to leave their club, chanting: “Neymar get out.”

Neymar’s current contract with PSG runs until 2027, but he’s open to leaving the club this summer. According to L’Equipe (via PSG Post), Luis Campos, the club’s sports advisor, would not be opposed to the winger’s departure at the end of the season.

‘Unfinished business’ – Neymar could return to Barcelona

Considering Neymar’s high wages, length of contract, injury record (out since March), and his age (31) it won’t be easy to find a buyer for the player. As such, the Ligue 1 leaders are open to accepting a loan deal with an option to buy.

The Premier League is being viewed as the most likely destination, but PSG’s willingness for a loan deal has also opened doors for Barcelona. It is being claimed that Neymar, who departed Camp Nou on an unceremonious note in 2017, believes he has ‘unfinished business’ at Barca.

The idea of Neymar and Messi rekindling their relationship in Catalonia is certainly exciting. However, Barcelona are yet to convince La Liga they are in a sound financial position to re-sign Messi. It’s unlikely they will get the nod to add Neymar to the mix.

Keeping the emotions aside, Xavi’s squad needs a quality left-winger (Neymar) more than another right-sided attacker (Messi). Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha have created plenty of goals from the right flank, but Ansu Fati has not managed to find the same success from the opposite flank for Barcelona.
