In a heartfelt video released on Barcelona’s social media accounts, Sergio Busquets confirmed that he will be leaving the club this summer after a 15-year spell at Camp Nou. The midfielder has won more than 30 trophies with the Blaugrana, including eight La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns, making him one of the club’s greatest-ever players.

Busquets started his career in the La Masia academy ranks and made his La Liga debut in 2008 against Racing Santander. Since then, he has established himself as one of the most talented midfielders in the world, renowned for his passing ability, vision, and tactical intelligence. His exit from the club is undoubtedly a significant loss for Barcelona, but it marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter for Busquets.

Sergio Busquets confirms his departure from Barcelona

The midfielder informed Barcelona of his decision earlier this month, and despite Xavi’s efforts to convince him to stay for one more season, Busquets is ready for a new challenge.

"He stated that “It has been an honour, a dream, a source of pride, and meant everything to defend and represent this badge for so many years, but everything has a beginning and an end, and although it has not been an easy decision, I think the time has come…Being a Barca fan is the best thing there is.”"

Busquets has reportedly garnered significant interest from MLS, with an offer already made in January. However, Saudi Arabian clubs are also said to be interested in the midfielder, adding to the speculation surrounding his future. His decision to leave Barcelona marks the end of an incredible journey, but there are still several chapters left to write in his illustrious career.

As things stand, Busquets is on course to win his ninth La Liga title with Barcelona. He has made 45 appearances across all competitions this season for his former midfield partner, now coach Xavi. His impact on Barcelona’s success over the years cannot be overstated, and he will undoubtedly be missed by fans around the world.

With more than 700 appearances for Barcelona, Busquets ranks third on the club’s all-time appearance list behind Lionel Messi and Xavi. His legacy will endure, and his contribution to the club will never be forgotten.
