Inter Miami have already stunned the footballing world by convincing Lionel Messi to move to Stateside despite competition from his former club, Barcelona, and Saudi Arabia – who have managed to attract the likes of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté to join forces with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League.

Now, the Major League Soccer side are working to tempt Jordi Alba into reuniting with Messi in Miami. The Spanish left-back, 34, decided to step aside at the end of the season, agreeing to terminate his contract after 11 years of service at Camp Nou.

The free agent, like every high-profile player the wrong side of 30 lately, is on the SPL’s radar. But the cash-rich league face tough competition for his signature from Inter Miami.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Alba is now in ‘active negotiations’ to join the David Beckham-owned outfit. The Italian journalist added that Alba has two proposals from Saudi, but a move to the U.S. is a ‘concrete possibility.’ The veteran defender is expected to assess his options in the next few weeks.

Barca aren’t actively looking for a new left-back with Xavi set to depend on Marcos Alonso and Alejandro Balde to cover the flank next season.

Interestingly, it has recently emerged that the Blaugrana monitored Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies before he swapped Vancouver Whitecaps for Bayern Munich in 2019. But the La Liga giants decided against making a move because of his nationality.

"“Barcelona actually reached out but the president (Josep Bartomeu) said they didn’t want me. They said they didn’t want me because I was Canadian. I’m not gonna lie that kind of crushed my feelings a little bit.”– Say Less podcast"

However, Davies cleared that his assessment stemmed from media reports.

Since his move to the Bundesliga from MLS, the Canada international has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting full-backs, and has been linked with Real Madrid this summer.
