Barcelona are open to handing Ez Abde,21, a shot at first-team football on the back of an impressive loan stint at Osasuna.

With Xavi keen on rejuvenating his frontline, the La Liga champions have been linked with a number of attackers in the early days of the summer. Their unsuccessful pursuit of Lionel Messi is well-documented. Barca had little power in the transfer saga concerning their club legend but they do have a clause that allows them to sign Yannick Carrasco – another transfer target – from Atletico Madrid for a fee believed to be in the region of €15 million.

The hierarchy are also working on luring Brazil’s highly-rated striker Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense. The player is tempted by the prospect of wearing the Blaugrana colours but there’s still a long way to go due to the club’s messy financial situation.

However, Xavi has the opportunity to improve his options going forward without worrying too much about the club’s financial books. And a report from Santi Aouna suggests the manager is willing to take the bet.

Xavi wants Ez Abde to stay at Barcelona

The journalist claims the Catalan outfit want to keep Abde at Camp Nou for the next season, barring a big offer for his services.

The Morocco international enjoyed a productive loan spell in Pamplona, scoring four goals and assisting twice in the league during the 2022-23 season.

After a promising campaign, it’s vital Abde, who accumulated 28 La Liga appearances at Osasuna, continues to play regularly. Accordingly, his agents are leaning towards an exit. But Barcelona believe he’s ready to compete for a place in Xavi’s fold. The boss is also keen on keeping him.

Abde made 23 appearances on the left flank. As such, Barcelona’s decision to keep him at the club should end their interest in Carrasco as well as raise question marks over Ansu Fati’s future.
