Barcelona are looking to attract one of the brightest stars in European football, showing interest in Turkish winger Kebir Ali Canpolat, who plays his football in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, the Spanish outfit face stiff competition, with a number of top European sides tracking the talented youngster, including PSG, Inter Milan, Juventus, Ajax, Liverpool and Chelsea. This is according to a report by Sky Sports Deutschland via SPORT.

Barca have focused their attention and resources on targeting some of the game’s brightest young stars. They have already managed to secure the signing of Brazilian Vitor Roque but missed out on Arder Guler who eventually chose Read Madrid.

Now they turn their attention to another Turkish playmaker in Canpolat.

Barcelona monitoring Turkish talent

Last term, the 16-year-old played for Eintracht Frankfurt’s under-17 team scoring 12 times and laying on 8 assists in just 17 appearances. He’s also scored 4 goals in 13 international appearances for Turkey’s under-17 teams.

Having been born in Euskirchen, Germany, there’s a chance that the German football federation will attempt to persuade him to turn out for them in the future.

Predominantly deployed as a right winger, Canpolat can play right across the front line, including as an out-and-out centre forward. The right-footed winger has plenty of speed to his game and it’s clear that he has a good touch in front of goal.

The report indicates that Canpolat is keen to leave Frankfurt this summer, the reason being given that he doesn’t see a route to the first team.

I imagine his route as a 16-year-old will be complicated wherever he lands considering the teams that are showing interest. Every major European club listed has established talent in the forward position, and the Blaugrana are no different.

However, he may see the development of players like Alejandro Balde (19), Pedri (20), Gavi (18) as a good sign that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough to play for Xavi’s Barcelona.
