Barcelona have just completed the signing of Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque, and now they’re eyeing up Estevao Willian, also known as ‘Little Messi’ or Messinho.

Roque’s agent Andre Cury was speaking to El Larguero about the signing of the Brazilian striker when he revealed ‘We have another bomb for the club’, revealed to be Estevao Willian, described as the ‘Next big figure in Brazilian football’.

Although we should temper our excitement, at least for the moment.

Cury went on to reveal that there has been no communication between the two clubs about the transfer, with the winger having just signed his first professional deal with Brazilian side Palmeiras. A deal that includes a €60 million release clause.

With Willian having just turned 16, it will be at least two years before he makes the move abroad, but Barcelona can certainly make their interest known in the hope of getting a jump on their rivals.

Who is Estevao Willian, AKA ‘Little Messi’?

Willian is regarded as one of the brightest stars of Brazilian football and chose the nickname Messinho or Little Messi due to his love and admiration for the Barcelona legend.

At the age of just 10, he became the youngest Brazilian player to sign a contract with Nike. At the age of 14, he left Cruzeiro for Palmeiras.

Over the last 18 months, he’s guided the Palmeiras youth teams to multiple titles including the Copa do Brasil Sub-17 and the Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-17.

Renowned for his dribbling skills and close control while moving at pace, Willian grew up idolizing Messi and sculpted his game around the Argentina forward.

Is there interest between Estevao Willian and Barcelona?

In short, absolutely.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo last year Messinho said that to go to Europe and play for Barcelona was his dream as a child.

This should give Joan Laporta confidence that at some point he will be able to strike a deal for another jewel of Brazilian football.

PSG have already seen a bid of €50 million turned down by Palmeiras, and I’m sure there will be more offers flooding in for the talented winger.
