Whenever Barcelona make a new signing or agrees to a contract renewal with one of their own players, the same question is asked. Will they actually be able to register them with La Liga?

Thanks to the mismanagement of previous Barcelona presidents, the La Liga champions are currently working under intense financial conditions, making it hard for them to compete in the transfer market with clubs like Manchester City.

However, despite reports to the contrary, Barcelona is confident that they’ll be able to register new signings lkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez and Oriol Romeu, as well as contract renewals such as the deal for Alejandro Balde which is close to being agreed upon.

SPORT has confirmed that Barcelona have the necessary space to register all the signings they’ve made so far. In fact, La Liga already has the contract details for all the players and there is absolute confidence that all will be available to Xavi for the first game of the season against Getafe on the 13th of August.

There were issues last year getting Jules Kounde registered in time, and the central defender was forced to miss the start of the season. However, the expectation is that it won’t happen again with La Liga and Barcelona working closely together to ensure everything is balanced and within the financial fair play model.

Further signings could be made based on departures.

Barcelona are still in the market for a central midfielder and right back, but in order to sign those players, there will need to be some departures.

Juventus have scheduled more talks with Barcelona in the United States about Franck Kessie and negotiations are continuing with Tottenham over the transfer of Clement Lenglet.

If Barca wants to bring in a marquee signing like Bernardo Silva, they may need a bigger sale to open room on the books.

A sale of Raphinha, or Ferran Torres would do that, although it remains unclear how willing Barca is to leave either go.

What we do know is that Xavi is looking to cut his squad down to 22 players, and to do that there are several outgoings still to come.
