Sergiño Dest’s future with Barcelona has been a hot topic this summer, and earlier today a report surfaced that Portuguese side Porto was showing interest in the right-back, but his agent has denied this while offering some insight into the future of Julian Araujo.

Speaking exclusively to BarcaTimes who tweeted out his quotes (which have since been deleted), the agent of both Dest and Araujo had this to say on the pair’s future:

"“Contrary to reports, Porto did not show interest in Dest, but I can confirm that they have shown interest in Julian Araujo and there are negotiations between the two clubs regarding a loan deal”"

He went on to confirm that Dest will complete the entire tour with Barca. Indicating that Xavi is determined to evaluate him fully before deciding his future.

Dest spent a very disappointing year on loan at AC Milan last year and the Italian side declined the €20 million purchase option as a result.

Barca is looking to improve the depth at the right back position in the senior side ahead of the new season, a problem position ever since Dani Alves left.

We recently looked at what Dest could do to rediscover his form at Barca.

Porto facing competition for Araujo

Last week a report indicated that Mexican right-back Araujo was heading to Spanish side Las Palmas on loan, but the interest of Porto seems to have changed the young full-backs plans.

Porto are also interested in signing midfielder Nico Gonzalez on loan and could work with Barca on a package deal in relation to loan fees.

The Mexican moved to Barcelona from LA Galaxy in February 2023 but failed to make an appearance for the Barcelona B side, and is now looking for first-team minutes away from the Catalan club.
