Barcelona confirmed the signing of Álvaro Pérez, better known as Trilli on Sunday after the former Deportivo de la Coruña man passed his medical Ciutat Esportiva.

A move that’s long been rumoured finally came to fruition with the 20-year-old right-back signing a two-year deal, opting for Barcelona over a number of alternatives, including Read Madrid and Atlético.

An extremely talented defender, Trilli is expected to join up with Barça Atlètic, training under coach Rafa Márquez for the first time on Monday.

Having represented Spain at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels, Trilli spent last year with Deportivo in the third division of Spanish football last year, appearing in 20 league games with one assist.

Although the statistics haven’t been there, he’s regarded as an offensive wing-back who enjoys getting forward and joining the attack, while offering plenty of physicality and an aerial presence.

Right back continues to be an area of concern for Xavi, and if Trilli can showcase his talent with Barça Atlètic, there’s no reason he couldn’t make the jump up if deemed suitable.

The lack of a long-term option at right-back is likely one of the main points that drew Trilli to choose Barcelona over the alternatives, but there is no doubt that he has bags of potential.

Barça Atlètic make a number of moves ahead of the new season

Trilli is not the only player to arrive at the Barca B side this week.

Barcelona and affiliate FC Andorra agreed to a loan deal that will see goalkeeper Marc Vidal move to Barça Atlètic for the 2023 season.

Vidal made 8 appearances for the Segunda division team last season and will compete for the number one jersey in Marquez’s side.

FC Andorra midfielder Moha Moukhliss has also extended his loan with Barca, having spent the second half of last season on loan at the club.
