Barcelona vs AC Milan: Team News & Projected Lineups

Barcelona: Although Barcelona has not officially ruled anyone out for the game, Inigo Martinez is unlikely to play as he continues his rehab from off-season surgery. ilkay Gundogan and Andreas Christensen both suffered injuries against Real Madrid, and it’s likely Barca will be cautious with both ahead of the new season.

Dembele won’t play tonight as he works on his move to PSG. Barca management doesn’t want to risk injury to the French forward, which would lead to complications with any transfer.

Projected starting lineup: Marc-André ter Stegen (GK), Sergi Roberto (RB), Joules Kounde (CB), Ronald Araújo (CB), Alejandro Balde (LB), Oriol Romeu (DM), Frenkie de Jong (CM) Fermin Lopez (CM), Raphinha (RW), Pedri (LW), Robert Lewandowski (ST)

I’d quite like to see Abde start instead of Raphinha to give us more evaluation time, and while it’s possible Franck Kessie could start, I have Fermin Lopez in for the injured Gundogan to build off his impressive display in El Clasico.

AC Milan: Davide Calabria is dealing with a muscle injury, so he’s unlikely to play. Other than that, they should have a full squad to choose from. The Rossoneri lose their opening game 3-2 to Real Madrid, and then drew 2-2 to Italian rivals Juventus, eventually losing 4-3 on penalties.

Projected starting lineup: Maignan; Florenzi, Thiaw, Tomori, T Hernandez; Loftus-Cheek, Krunic, Pobega; Leao, Giroud, Pulisic
