How Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid could help Barcelona sign Silva
By Vishal Singh
Bernardo Silva has long been on the radar of Barcelona and it’s understood he’s still Xavi Hernandez’s big favourite.
However, as has been the case over the last two years, the Spanish giants’ precarious financial situation continues to deal blows to Xavi’s transfer hopes.
According to SPORT, Barca maintains a very good relationship with Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and they believe the Manchester City play-maker would be willing to force his exit should they knock on the door.
The Blaugrana have already shown that their pull in the market is still pretty impressive by luring İlkay Gündoğan from the same club despite Pep Guardiola’s desire to extend his midfield leader’s stay at the Etihad. But Joan Laporta and company are yet to make any concrete approach because it “would be unfeasible” to sign Silva, as things stand.
Mbappe’s PSG exit could start a domino effect that could benefit Barcelona
Despite Kylian Mbappe’s public stance that he wants to continue in the French capital for another season, Paris Saint-Germain are working around the clock to push him out of Parc des Princes to ensure they don’t lose one of the world’s best players for nothing.
As per multiple reports, the France forward has just one club in his mind: Real Madrid. Should Los Blancos decide to pull the trigger and sign Mbappe this summer, multiple clubs are expected to benefit from the trembles his transfer would cause.
The Spanish outlet suggests that the Catalan outfit are among those who are hoping for “the eventual market explosion” following Mbappe’s transfer and the subsequent demand for their players. The Ligue 1 giants are already working on acquiring Ousmane Dembélé from Camp Nou.
The possibility of signing Silva is expected to soar in the event Barcelona manage to raise significant funds from sales. For now, though, the Portuguese star is staying calm, as the bar “is too high”.
Despite being aware of Silva’s intentions to leave, City are in no mood of letting their important player leave for cheap. Xavi remains keen and Barcelona are studying the feasibility of the ambitious operation, but everyone understands any approach for the world-class midfielder is going to be very complicated.
