FC Barcelona had to be smart this summer with their transfer business. Considering the financial situation at the club, they couldn’t splash out on €100 million players.
Instead, they elected to sign the likes of Oriol Romeu for a small fee. They then signed Vitor Roque for the future for €35 million plus add-ons and attracted the likes of Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix on loan.
Joan Laporta may be bullish on the financial future of the club, and he’s certainly made strides to improve the wage structure and bring it under control in accordance with La Liga’s strict financial fair play regulations, but Barcelona will need to continue their shrewd signings.
One player is attracting significant attention from the management team at FC Barcelona, despite only having made a handful of appearances in La Liga.
FC Barcelona interested in signing Girona starlet Savio
Former Barcelona coach Michel has done a lot of good at Girona and attracting certain players is certainly one of them.
Savio, who arrived from Troyes on loan this season has been an early-season sensation in La Liga. His close control and ability to run at defenders have electrified spectators and attracted the attention of certain clubs, FC Barcelona are among them.
According to a report in SPORT, Barcelona had already tried to sign him but an agreement could not be reached and it’s expected that they will try again.
The Brazilian winger who largely operates on the left wing has already scored once and assisted two goals in just five appearances. He’s a big reason why Girona remain unbeaten in the league with Michel’s team currently sitting third having won 4 of their 5 games.
If Barcelona hope to secure the signing of Savio they’ll likely have to fight off competition from a number of clubs.
Troyes like Girona is part of the City Group founded by Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Khaldoon Al Mubarak, with Manchester City being their flagship club. So if Manchester City want him, they’ll obviously be given the priority to do so.
