For many players, a move to FC Barcelona is the dream. You play for one of the best teams in Europe and get to live in the beautiful city of Barcelona. Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo both spoke of their desire to play for the Blaugrana before making the move to Catalonia.

A lot of players grew up watching the likes of Rivaldo, Messi and Ronaldinho weave their magic or the central midfield magnificence of Xavi and Iniesta. Although a dream destination for many, some prefer the bright lights of London.

This is the case for Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu, who has previously been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. The highly-rated defender has been a Serie A sensation so far this season, and inevitably he’s drawn considerable interest from some of the top European clubs, including FC Barcelona.

The left-back has impressed early in the season and many are tipping him to make a move within the next 18-24 months. Liverpool have also shown interest, but they’ll face a battle to convince him to move north, with the Danish defender saying:

"“Chelsea is my dream to play for. I have been a fan of them for over 10 years, so it would be a huge dream to play for them.”"

Dorgu’s contract in Italy runs through to 2027, and it’s unclear if Chelsea hold an interest in the player, but if the Stamford Bridge outfit did come in for Dorgu, chances are he’d push for a move to England.

FC Barcelona are relatively set at left-back with Alejandro Balde having recently signed a contract extension, but as we saw against Celta Vigo, depth is important and Marcos Alonso will likely leave the club next summer.

Dorgu is an outstanding talent and an exciting prospect, it’ll be interesting to see if Barcelona try to get a jump on him in the transfer window.
