Midfielders

Romeu – 6

Not quite as sharp as in other matches. He was dispossessed quite a bit, failed to find open players, and was defensively a bit out of sorts. Mallorca played him very physically in this match, and he seemed a bit overwhelmed in that single pivot position. The midfield was a war zone in this one, with Barça never getting control of it and slowing the game down for extended periods of time. Romeu was part of the problem here. However, for the type of player he is, his performance wasn’t bad enough to warrant that low of a grade.

Gavi – 7

Gavi was his usual Gavi self, but not quite at the level we’ve come to expect from him recently. The whole squad seemed to be playing in mud, and Gavi was as well – but to a lesser degree. He did have some nice moments. The midfield was mostly unable to maintain steady control of the central areas, and Gündoğan and Romeu were most to blame for it, not Gavi. Even though it was a somewhat disappointing performance from the whole midfield, still not a bad one from him. He continues to show he’s improved massively on the ball. His quality has really shown through this season. He’s going to continue being special.

Gündoğan – 6

He had a couple of moments of quality in the first period, especially linking up with Gavi, Ferran, and Félix. He also gave a few good balls to Raphinha, including one beautiful through ball that almost led to a Félix goal. However, he couldn’t seem to get quite as involved when building up from the back, and didn’t manage the final ball to unlock the defense. He was maybe the most obviously tired out there.

Fermín López – 8

The youngster came on in the 64th and, like Yamal, brought some energy and creativity to this side. A sweet dummy from Lewandowski, and Fermín was there to pounce. It was a nice finish, showcasing his offensive instincts and ability to get into the box and make things happen. Honestly, he was by far Barça’s most dynamic midfielder tonight, and the only one who even sniffed a goal, let alone scored. He’s certainly earned the right for some more minutes.
