After the departure of Ousmane Dembélé Barcelona has lacked a creative winger for the left flank. Even after having versatile options like João Félix and Ferran Torres, Xavi wants someone who is specialized for the role. This move too won’t come without consequences like selling a big name just to balance the books to stay in check of FFP.

According to German outlet BILD, Barcelona are following Leroy Sané’s situation at Bayern Munich. The German winger’s contract expires in 2025 but the player reportedly isn’t interested in renewing it. This will put Bayern in a tight spot so they’ll try to cash out by listening to offers in the next transfer window. The need to make a return is imperative considering he was bought for a transfer fee of €49 million.

The Blaugrana have been following him since the last two transfer windows but couldn’t make a move due to financial problems. Even if they have a better chance next window they won’t certainly have it their way as arch rivals Real Madrid are also interested in the winger. Still the Catalan giants might have a chance as they have a good relationship with his agent. Both Marcos Alonso and Leroy share the same agent.

Sané’s form and play style

Sané has been in outstanding form this season. He has scored six goals in just ten games this season. His contribution to the Bavarians across all seasons include 44 goals and 37 assists from 143 games. The 27-year-old will probably continue this form and might have his best season in the Bundesliga this year.

The German’s playing style pivots on speed. He is really fast and also uses a lot of feints to jump into space. The winger might not be the fastest but he knows just when, where and how to use his speed to overwhelm his opponents. Add one-two passing and game sense to that and you get the perfect winger.
