Barcelona have been searching for a young defensive midfielder for a long time but haven’t been as lucky. Busquets was a phenomenon, the Spanish was born and bred in the club’s famed academy, La Masia. After the midfielder’s departure, Barça continues their search for a successor.

The signing of Oriol Romeu was a relief, and the club has emphasized their trust in the Spaniard time after time. Nonetheless, everyone knows that the Ulldecona local isn’t fit to survive for long. On an average, a defensive midfielder peaks around his mid-late twenties. Although there have been many anomalies, Blaugrana can’t depend on the player for too long.

Bruno Guimarães and Barcelona Clause

Between this chaos, there is a Brazilian youngster who is keen on playing for Barcelona. Bruno Guimarães’ is a big Cules. This fact is proven by the midfielder’s recent contract extension with Newcastle United. According to Diario Sport, the 25-year-old has a special clause that can help his dream come true.

The clause suggests that if Barcelona come knocking for the Brazilian, they will offer a lower release clause to them than to any other club. The price is set around €65-€70 million only for Barcelona. At the moment, Transfermarkt values the player at €85 million.

The €65-€70 million range is a steal for the player, considering his value at the moment. Still, Barcelona isn’t financially healthy to even afford that in present times. But Barça have time as the contract runs till 2028. This will make the Brazilian a prime target for the Blaugrana next summer.

Even though the Catalan club is getting a steal, they need to make space for new players by selling some big names. This is because of the FFP sanctions on the club. If Barça fail to balance their books, then the Spanish club won’t be able to register new players in time. Summer 2024 is going to be a busy one for the club.
