Based on the financial situation at Barcelona, the La Liga champions have to be smart with their transfer policy.

This summer we saw Inigo Martinez and Ilkay Gundogan arrive on free transfers and Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo arrive on loan.

It’s fully expected that Barcelona will need to stick to the same method of recruitment for another 12 months, focusing on players who have maybe fallen out of favour with their current club or suffered a dip in form.

Although Jadon Sancho is not the only player of interest, he is generating some buzz based on his situation at Manchester United.

Jadon Sancho is a player of interest, but not in the January transfer window

According to a recent report, Barcelona are monitoring the situation of many players, one of whom is Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

The former Borussia Dortmund star has been frozen out at United by current manager Eric ten Hag after failing to apologise for some public comments criticising the Dutch manager’s selection policy.

According to multiple rumours which have so far been unsubstantiated, Sancho is often late to training and some within the organisation question his desire and commitment to being the best player he can be.

Until he apologises, it seems certain that he’ll remain on the sideline. This has fueled transfer speculation with many outlets linking him with a move to his former club in Germany.

According to a report in SPORT (via Barcacentre) Barcelona have ruled out the option in January but could revisit the situation next summer.

There is one stipulation, the contract and salary would need to fall in line with Barcelona’s financial fair play.

With Joao Felix currently performing for Barcelona, it’s likely that Joan Laporta and Sporting Director Deco will prioritise his signing over an unknown commodity like Sancho, who has really underperformed since making a big money from Manchester United.
