The battle for Gui Ruck sees European giants and Brazilian clubs in a keen contest
By Shree Desai
The South American market is full of football prodigies. Many European clubs have tried to impose their monopoly over it but haven’t had the best of results. Nevertheless, the giants of Europe battle for the best South American signatures every year. Every time clubs search for players in the Latin region, but this time a player has come knocking on their door.
Brazilian-born Guilherme Ruck better known as Gui Ruck has been a topic of discussion in various clubs’ recruitment meetings. The 14-year-old moved to Europe when he was only 7, where he had stints with Sporting de Braga and FC Porto. Atletico Madrid tried to sign the midfielder but failed due to bureaucratic reasons. The Brazilian ended up at Spanish third-division side Rayo Majadahonda.
The teenage sensation signed for Real Valladolid in 2021 and has been in the spotlights ever since. He is so good that the Brazilian U-15 National team is planning to call him up for the next match. According to SPORT, European giants FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG are after his signatures. Brazilian sides Flamengo, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro are also in the race.
Will Barcelona’s Sporting Deal Outweigh Financial Offers?
As expected, Barça currently stands last in the race, considering their financial position. Talking of finance, the Brazilian clubs have already made their move offering the best financial and sporting offers. In the long term, the Latin clubs will recover the money by selling the player to Europe, making at least eight figures in the process.
Real Madrid has been on the player’s back for the longest time. They have frequently maintained contact with the Brazilian but it never ended in an agreed deal. PSG is also in the race waiting for the right moment. The Parisian club has the money and can be a lucrative destination for any player inside Europe.

The midfielder hasn’t yet decided on a terminus. This is a good sign for Barcelona, who can still persuade the player to join the famed La Masia. A good sporting deal is what the Blaugrana can offer at the moment. Financially, the offer might be the worst among all the competitors. Money can be an issue, but this hasn’t stopped top talents from training at the best academy on the planet.
