The transfer standoff between Atltico Madrid and FC Barcelona over Argentine forward Julian Alvarez has finally reached its climax. After failing to act like a big club and handle their player's wishes like a proper institution, Atletico have hit back hard against Barcelona again as they have decided to officially put in more proof for their baseless appeals against the Catalans with both FIFA and RFEF.
Human factor at play: Alvarez is still struggling to recover
It is becoming quite apparent by now that both sides are taking their toll physically and mentally. Today, Alvarez wasn't present for the training session as he has reported to the club's medical staff that he was not feeling alright and he couldn't possibly show up for training.
Atletico believe that a lot of damage is caused due to the persistent offers made by Barcelona and the treatment that the player is being subjected to by the player's surroundings, destabilising him critically. Atletico has thus reaffirmed their duty of care towards him in support, promising to maintain their pace and help him make a swift recovery and get back to the ground as soon as possible.
Documenting the damage
Previously, Atletico's institutional complaint was aimed at the allegations that Barcelona made unsanctioned contact, it has now turned out that the issue with this expanded claim involves the tangible and quantifiable damages incurred. Three points of financial and physical costs have been established and proof of these damages against them have already been provided by the Rojiblancos:
- Financial costs.
- Sporting costs as displayed by the dip in the player's form and absence from training.
- Institutional costs inflicted upon the club due to constant meddling from within their own league by Barcelona.
A firm "0%" and a refusal to negotiate
After this official addendum, there seems to be absolutely no room for discussion as the club claims there is indeed "0%" chance of Atletico Madrid losing Alvarez to Barcelona. The rojiblancos claim that this is now well beyond money; it's a matter of so called "respect and dignity".
Atletico Madrid are of the notion that they would not discuss or even negotiate with Barcelona ever again as per the current conditions.
