Barcelona's Ferran Torres continues to be linked with a move away from the club, but the reigning La Liga champions will be hoping he remains in Catalonia as they look increasingly unlikely to strengthen their options at centre-forward.
A move to Paris Saint-Germain has been reported as the most likely destination for the World Cup-winning forward, with former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique said to be personally pushing for the 26-year-old's signature. However, a new contender has now emerged, and it is one that would send shockwaves through Catalonia.
According to L'Equipe, Real Madrid have identified Torres as a priority target and believe the Spanish international could provide high-quality cover and competition for Kylian Mbappé. A switch to Barcelona's fiercest rivals would undoubtedly be one of the most controversial transfers in recent memory.
José Mourinho is making shrewd decisions in the transfer market as he looks to strengthen a Real Madrid side that has finished second in each of the past two seasons and missed out on Champions League success. Ferran Torres would represent a smart addition, but any deal appears highly unlikely given the strained relationship between the two clubs, with tensions in the rivalry having only intensified further in recent years.

Why are Barcelona letting him go?
Barcelona are reportedly open to selling Ferran Torres this summer to avoid triggering a payment clause owed to Manchester City. Extending the striker's contract would reportedly activate a further £6.7 million payment, taking the club's total outlay on Torres to around £61.5 million.
At first glance, paying that fee may seem more economical than signing a replacement. However, it also raises questions about the structure of Barcelona's previous transfer dealings. That said, given the club's ongoing Financial Fair Play constraints and La Liga's registration rules, avoiding the additional payment could make financial sense, particularly if Barcelona are planning a major move for Julián Álvarez.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are scheduled to meet with the Valencia-born forward next week to discuss his future. The club remain keen to extend Ferran's contract, which expires in June 2027, but Financial Fair Play restrictions mean any renewal cannot be finalised until September.
