Barcelona's highest rated player in EA Sports FC 26 is a disappointing surprise

Some questions are being raised about his FC 26 rating, and who can blame them.

Every new edition of EAFC brings fresh ratings, and while the numbers don’t always swing dramatically, there are always a few surprises that get fans talking. Whether you’re grinding Ultimate Team, sweating through FUT Champions, or building a dynasty in Career Mode, the first thing most players look for is which stars can give them the edge.

Today, EA Sports released the Player Ratings for the upcoming game release on 26 September. As expected, the global superstars sit right at the top, with Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah both leading the charts on 91 rating. But the big question for Culés is this: where do Barcelona’s own stars land on the list, and how do they stack up against the very best in the game?

Our highest-rated player should be higher

It feels like just one incredible season was enough for Lamine Yamal to prove he’s not just a rising star, but already among the very best in the world. At only 18, the Spanish wonderkid is being tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner,  and on current form, that prediction might come sooner rather than later.

Last season, Yamal’s impact went beyond mere numbers. While Kylian Mbappé may have outscored him, it was the teenage sensation who truly lit up both the domestic and European stages, delivering in crucial moments and ending the campaign with three trophies to Mbappé’s none. With such influence at such a young age, it’s hard to argue that his EAFC 26 rating shouldn’t be even higher, or at least closer to the top bracket. A case can certainly be made for him to be the highest-rated player, but his absence from the cover and Barcelona’s partnership with EAFC’s rival, eFootball, might explain the hesitation.

Lamine Yamal’s rating in the new game is 89, level with Raphinha and Pedri, both of whom arguably deserve their ranking, with the Brazilian having had more impact than the Spanish midfielder.

Just behind are Robert Lewandowski (88), Frenkie de Jong (87), and Jules Koundé (87), with no major changes to their ratings from last year. However, notable upgrades for Joan García (83) and Pau Cubarsí (82) reflect a positive shift within the squad and recognition of their rising influence.

Maybe next year will be the year we see Lamien rates as the best.
