Robert Lewandowski could be approaching the end of his time at Barcelona, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2026 and no signs yet of an extension for the Polish legend.

Speculation continues to grow over who might succeed him as Barcelona’s main striker, with names such as Julián Álvarez, Harry Kane, and Karl Etta Eyong all being linked as potential arrivals to lead the line in the 2026/27 season. However, recent reports suggest that Hansi Flick already has a preferred target in mind, with the latest developments seemingly increasing the likelihood of a move.

Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy could now emerge as a realistic target for Barcelona, with reports from Sky Sports Germany and BVB Buzz indicating that the Guinean forward now has a reduced release clause in his contract from a previously high figure that would put many suitors off.

Guirassy, whose contract with Dortmund runs until 2028, previously had a release clause valued between €65–70 million, which expired during the summer. According to BILD, a new clause has since been activated, this time set at €50 million, and, crucially, it can only be triggered by a select group of top European clubs, excluding those from Saudi Arabia.

The lower valuation could open the door for Barcelona to explore the possibility of signing the prolific striker, either as early as January or in the summer of 2026, depending on their financial conditions and squad registration issues with La Liga.

Since joining Dortmund from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024, Guirassy has been a revelation in front of goal, scoring 44 goals in 58 appearances across all competitions and adding 12 assists. His consistent finishing, physical presence, and composure inside the box have made him one of the Bundesliga’s most effective strikers, qualities that Barcelona saw close up in last year’s Champions League fixture.

If the club’s financial situation continues to improve, the newly reduced clause could represent a strategic opportunity to secure a proven goalscorer at a reasonable price.
