The 2026 World Cup is the ultimate objective for Barcelona's Spanish contingent, but for the attacking players in particular, there is also individual glory at stake.

With nine Barcelona stars in Spain's squad, La Roja arrived in North America carrying the weight of expectation as one of the tournament favourites. Their opening fixtures present opportunities to build momentum and, crucially, rack up goals, giving the club's forwards a realistic chance of challenging for the Golden Boot.

If Spain go deep into the tournament as expected, one of Barcelona's attacking stars could find themselves at the centre of football's biggest stage by July, leading their country to glory while collecting individual honours along the way.

The obvious candidate is Lamine Yamal, who arrives as one of the tournament's biggest stars. However, Barcelona management want Spain to take a cautious approach following his recent injury setback, meaning he could play a more limited role in the opening two matches despite returning to full training. The priority will be ensuring the Barcelona winger is fully sharp and firing when the knockout stages begin.

Pedri, Dani Olmo and Gavi are unlikely to get enough goalscoring opportunities to challenge for the Golden Boot, while defenders Pau Cubarsí and Eric García operate too far from goal to enter the conversation.

That could leave Ferran Torres as Spain's surprise contender for the award. The Barcelona forward has a proven eye for goal and could benefit from playing alongside some of the tournament's most creative talents. If Spain scores 5+ in the two group games and Ferran converts the chances that come his way, he has every chance of emerging as an unexpected candidate to claim the Golden Boot by the end of the competition.

Ferran Torres is the man

Ferran is the player most likely to benefit from the endless supply of chances they create, with the likes of Pedri and other midfield generals pulling the strings. His movement inside the box, clinical finishing and ability to score in bursts make him a dangerous outsider.

Spain are expected to progress deep into the tournament and have favourable group-stage fixtures, particularly the Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia fixtures, giving Ferran opportunities to build an early goals tally. If he secures the starting striker role over Mikel Oyarzabal and maintains his Barcelona form, he could emerge as the unexpected winner of football's most prestigious individual scoring prize.
