Coming on the back of mammoth victories against Sevilla, Alaves, and Young Boys, much was expected of FC Barcelona and they delivered exactly the same against Bayern Munich. Although as expected, unlike the challenges so far, Kompany's side did give a headache to the Blaugrana club on some occasions, Barca comfortably sailed to a 4-1 win at the end.
FC Barcelona continues winning ways as they dominate Bayern 4-1 in UCL
Featuring the likes of some of the best forwards currently, the fixture proved to be an intense battle on the offensive front, however, Barca's trio marched successfully ahead, scoring 4 past the German legend Manuel Neuer. While certainly, a superstar performance was expected from the seasoned stars, the way their young prodigies responded was commendable.
Within the first minute, Barca breakout star Fermin Lopez made a brilliant through ball for Club Captain Raphinha, who easily put it past Neuer. However, unlike what was expected, after scoring the go-ahead goal in the 1st minute, Bayern responded very well, troubling the Barca defense on several occasions until they leveled the scoreline in the 18th minute. But, what happened afterward reflected Barca's mentality this season, why they have been so dominant this far.
Having got their lead erased, Barca slowed down the game's pace before fancying their chances once again. With young stars Lamine Yamal, Marc Casado, and Pedri, Flick's side firmed their control on the fixture gradually. Ultimately, not much later, the magic moment arrived as Yamal's long ball found debut starter Fermin Lopez, who, with a beautiful touch, created an open goal-scoring opportunity for star forward Robert Lewandowski. Given the form the number 9 has been in, he made no mistake, making it 2-1 in the 36th minute.
Not much later, ace pivot Marc Casado's brilliant ball retrieve followed up with an inch-perfect pass from the 21-year-old, found an onrushing Raphinha, who, with a brilliant finish, gave Barca the 3-1 cushion at the stroke of the first half. Although the 2-1 goal had affected Bayern's situation in the fixture, the goal just before the 2nd half had the visitors almost out of the game.
Kicking in the second half, FC Barcelona continued in even higher spirits, making a potential Bayern comeback impossible. In the 56th minute, prodigy star Lamine Yamal delivered an exquisite long ball for in-form star Raphinha, who, with a rocket finish, completed his hattrick, sealing the game for the Blaugrana club. Although attempts followed up from both sides, the scoreline remained 4-1 in the end, as Barca grabbed another important 3 points in UCL.
Overall, once again, Hansi Flick's side put in an amazing collective effort, successfully passing yet another important challenge. Going forward, FC Barcelona is scheduled to face Clasico rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga matchday. Barca fans hope that the club continues the same way they have been dominating their opponents, stretching their table-top lead to 6 points after the El Clasico.
