Galatasaray vs Barcelona match preview
Can Barcelona continue their flawless start to this season? On Saturday evening, Hansi Flick's team swatted aside Getafe 3-0 at Camp Nou with a minimum of fuss. Anthony Gordon broke the deadlock inside 100 seconds, his first goal in Blaugrana, before Gabriel Jesus and Jules Koundé were also on target. As a result, Barça have won eight out of eight in La Liga so far, scoring 34 goals, with a Clásico to come the weekend after next.
Meantime, Barcelona carried this scoring spree into the Champions League too. In the pouring Catalan rain, they began the league phase by steamrollering Feyenoord 5-1 last month; Raphinha at the double, while Karim Adeyemi, Lamine Yamal and Jesus were also on target.
Since the introduction of the league phase, Barça have finished second and then fifth, seeking similar this time round. Well, next mid-week, their credentials will be severely tested, taking on back-to-back winners Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in a heavyweight clash. Before then, will Barcelona continue their 100% start to this season with a victory 2,200 kilometres from home?
Galatasaray meantime reached the round of 16 last season, finishing 20th and then ousting Juventus, before being swept aside by Liverpool. This was their first appearance in the Champions League knockout phase since 2014, so a repeat would be a major success.
Okan Buruk's team though were beaten on matchday one. Despite taking a fifth minute lead in Lisbon, Sporting CP rather easily ran out 3-1 winners at Estádio José Alvalade.
Nevertheless, having beaten Liverpool twice, Bodø/Glimt and Juve in İstanbul last season, they were always likely to relay heavily on home form. Galatasaray will also host Stuttgart, Aston Villa and Feyenoord, as well as travelling to Lille, AEK Athens and PSG, so it is far from impossible that they finish in the top 24 again.
Here however, anything other than a high-scoring Barça victory at Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi would be a major surprise.
Galatasaray team news
Okan Buruk heavily rotated for Friday night's 3-1 win over Kasımpaşa, in which his team scored twice in injury time, with all the big-hitters set to return. These include İlkay Gündoğan, who will be up against his former club, as well as a player Hansi Flick knows very well Leroy Sané.
Victor Osimhen will be looking to add to his 65 goals in 79 Galatasaray games, of which seven came in last season's Champions League. In contrast, summer signing Rafael Leão is looking to get off the mark for his new employers.
Barcelona team news

Despite picking up an injury before the international break, goalkeeper Joan García returned against Getafe, but Raphinha was not involved. The Brazilian suffered a "minor right thigh injury" in Australia, and will not travel to İstanbul as a result, but could be available at the weekend.
His compatriot Gabriel Jesus led the line and scored on Saturday, so will he keep his place, or could Karim Adeyemi come into attack? Pau Cubarsí, Pedri and Fermín López are among those also hoping to be rotated in.
Predicted Line-ups
- Galatasaray predicted lineup: Çakır; Sallai, Sánchez, Jakobs, Elmalı; Sara, Torreira, Gündoğan; Sané, Leão, Osimhen.
- Barcelona predicted lineup: García; Koundé, E García, Cubarsí, Espart; Rodri, Pedri, Fermín; Lamine Yamal, Gordon, Jesus.
- Score prediction: Galatasaray 1-3 Barcelona.
