Just when Hansi Flick's team appeared to be unstoppable after that sensational 7-2 slaughter of Racing Club, Barcelona have been dealt a nasty setback. First choice keeper Joan Garcia has suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee.

After tests at the Ciutat Esportiva on Thursday morning, it was confirmed that Joan Garcia would be out of action for a matter of 3 weeks.

Setback for Flick's defence

It is a cruel blow, just when the Blaugrana had reached new heights, sitting pretty at the top of the La Liga table on a 100% record, smashing records on a weekly basis. But losing your first choice keeper can never be a good thing, and Flick will certainly feel that this comes at the worst possible time.

Garcia suffered the injury during Wednesday night's 7-2 rout of Racing Santander, but while the first team were busy doing their best to set a new scoring record, the physios were already concerned at the problem affecting the keeper.

Missed fixtures

With a three week layoff needed to recover, Garcia is almost certainly going to miss the upcoming league fixture against Sevilla.

The one positive is the fact that the international break is coming up, and if all goes well, Flick will be able to call upon the services of his first choice keeper once the players return from their mid-season holidays. Until then, Barcelona will have to make do with their backup keeper Szczesny, but that should not affect the team's impressive run in the domestic competition.

Injuries are the only things that can stop this Barcelona side from winning every game, so let's hope the medical staff do not have to deal with anything too serious in the coming weeks.
