Marc Bernal's recovery is progressing slower than expected. As of Monday, the 18-year-old has not joined the group at the Joan Gamper Training Centre. Bernal is strictly continuing his recovery program in the gym.
A left ankle sprain from the April 4 match against Atlético Madrid continues to sideline Bernal. He has missed both the Champions League tie against Atletico and it is unlikely he will feature in the Celta Vigo clash this Wednesday.
Hansi Flick refuses to risk the player because of his previous long-term knee injury which is rightfully so. We will likely see him stay out of the squad if he misses tomorrow’s group session.
This leaves Flick with 48 hours to adjust his midfield rotation while we watch Barcelona try to protect their lead at the top of the table.
My suggestion would be to completely rest Bernal for the Wednesday clash and slowly integrate him in the concluding matches of the season. Given he has just recovered from his long-term injury, we do not want any lapses in his development.

Bernal is the young prodigy and the future of Barcelona's midfiield. Hansi Flick and the coaching staff must protect their gems.
The season is almost over and Barcelona sit comfortably at the top. There is absolutely no need to risk Bernal given we have enough midfield options after Gavi and De Jong’s return to the main squad.
