The last few days have witnessed Barca making significant changes to improve their current status and seek European glory. Among the top notable ones have been Thiago returning as Flick's staff, Barca progressing for Nico Williams, and Dani Olmo being eyed as their transfer prospect. However, though these changes are mandatory, they require a significant amount of cash flow as well.
According to various reports in the past few days, it has been an undeniable fact that someone from the Barca squad will have to part ways with the club to accommodate Dani Olmo's signing. Moreover, not long ago, some sources mentioned that manager Hansi Flick would have a discussion with Ilkay Gundogan about his future at the club.
Al Sadd offers Gundogan a 3-year contract
As Gundogan has been a crucial part of the Catalan midfield, Barca has their plans clear: they would not force him to leave if he didn't wish to. However, if an opportunity arises, an offer could be considered because of the club's financial situation and desire to bring in players like Dani Olmo and Nico Williams.
Recently, an update regarding the veteran's Barca future has arrived, which could be beneficial for the club. Qatari giant Al Sadd has made an offer for Ilkay Gundogan. According to reports, Al Sadd has offered German International a 3-year contract. Though there is a possibility that Gundogan might use this lucrative offer to negotiate better terms with Barcelona, the chances of this look very slim.
Instead, as mentioned before, Barca may want to extract some cash from the midfielder's lucrative offer, given his stature in world football. Just to remind you, Barca signed Gundogan on a free transfer a season ago, and thus, any transfer fee for the midfielder will bring the Catalan club a profit.
Though further updates regarding Gundogan's reaction to the offer are yet to arrive, chances are that if he chooses to leave, Barca will sell him for a fee of around €25M–€30M. Thus, Barca won't negotiate with Gundogan, and if he chooses to leave, the club will collect his transfer fee to move further in the transfer window.
