Since the Nico Williams saga has turned cold at FC Barcelona, the transfer tale of another Spanish star has been taking rounds at the Blaugrana club. Being the top scorer of the Euro 2024, Dani Olmo's profile has been an ideal match for many European giants, like Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, and some PL clubs. The player's preference for Barcelona has given the Catalan giants the upper edge against others.
Dani Olmo seems away as Leipzig hasn't agreed to Barca's offer
However, though much easier may it sound, given the player's preference, Olmo's deal with Barca still feels in the initial stages. Though the Blaugrana club has agreed on personal terms with the player and Leipzig is also convinced to sell Olmo to Barca or a PL club, the deal is yet to materialize, with Leipzig neglecting both Catalan offers.
In Rouven Schröder, Leipzig's sporting director's words on the Olmo transfer saga,
""The transfer window is still open for about four weeks; so far there has been very little movement, only nuances. We are relaxed and prepared in case the worst happens. After all, that's our job.""Rouven Schröder
Though recent reports suggest that Barcelona is intensifying negotiations for Dani Olmo and that the coming days are crucial to reaching an agreement with Leipzig, it's an undeniable fact that Leipzig isn't going to negotiate easily. According to Diario SPORT, the German club has rejected the proposal of paying the fee in installments, which suggested Barca pay €20M-€25M in September and the rest later on.
Considering the current scenario between FC Barcelona and RB Leipzig, it's the harsh truth that right now, Dani Olmo is very far away from Barcelona. With Leipzig on the lookout for a €60M fixed fee for Olmo and Barça unable to offer the same, the two clubs are not close to an agreement.
Though any further interventions from other clubs, like Bayern Munich and Manchester United, are less likely, they might enter the scenario in case Barca's deal fails. Thus, with Olmo being their dream transfer target of the summer window, the club would hope that they manage to add the versatile Spanish attacker to their next season roster.
