Chelsea might loan former Barcelona youngster to Espanyol

Rising through the ranks of the infamous La Masia Academy, Marc Guiu's rise has been impressive. Witnessing his mettle in the Primera Federacion, Guiu was called up to the FC Barcelona senior team ahead of their 23/24 preseason game against Vissel Kobe. He made his unofficial Barca debut in the fixture, playing the second half after coming on as a substitute for Robert Lewandowski.

Guiu's official debut occurred in the La Liga fixture against Athletic Bilbao, in which the young center forward clinched the winning goal for Barca just 23 seconds after his arrival, becoming Barca's super sub.

The 18-year-old forward, who has garnered attention for his impressive super sub performances last season, Scoring two goals in just seven first-team appearances for Barcelona earned the youngster a permanent €6 million move to Chelsea. However, with Chelsea's spending spree on several top players and young talents, Guiu is expected to move out on loan with a view to getting more playing time.

And it looks like he could return to La Liga, with Espanyol interested in the La Masia graduate. With Joselu and Martin Braithwaite leaving Espanyol, the La Liga side is in need of a new number nine and looks to Guiu as a potential new striker.

Following their return to La Liga this season, Espanyol are determined to bolster their squad as they aim to remain in the first division. The club has already made moves in the transfer market, and the addition of Marc Guiu could significantly boost their chances of promotion.
