Dani Olmo's homecoming transfer move to FC Barcelona complicates
- RB Leipzig has rejected Barcelona's first offer for Dani Olmo.
- Manchester City has made an offer to sign Dani Olmo, making his Barca move difficult.
Since the start of the 2024/25 summer transfer window, the Euro Top scorer Dani Olmo has been one of the few shortlisted names for FC Barcelona. Initially thought to be the backup plan for Nico Williams's deal, Olmo's heroics and familiarity with the Blaugrana club soon made him the player Barca would sign along with Nico.
As President Joan Laporta announced Barca's intention to sign him alongside Nico, chances of his homecoming caught everyone's attention. Not only that, Barca's Sporting Director Deco had held a meeting with Olmo's agent and offered him a 6-year contract at the Blaugrana club.

However, a disheartening update regarding Olmo's Barca move has arrived, which might hamper Barca's spirit. According to reports, FC Barcelona's first offer to RB Leipzig for Dani Olmo has been disapproved by RB Leipzig, as they did not like either the amount offered or the mode of payment.
Barca's first offer, which included €40M fixed (€10M payment every year until 2028)+€20M bonuses, has been considered ridiculous by Leipzig. From a neutral perspective, the offer didn't look that bad; however, it failed to please Olmo's parent club to sell him. But the club seems set to make a second offer soon for the Spaniard.
However, the situation isn't the same for Olmo's move as it looked earlier. Interested in the Spanish attacking wizard, Premier League giants Manchester City have entered the race to secure the signature of the 26-year-old. Pep's side has made an offer to sign Olmo, and it seems Barca needs to be quick in this case.
Even though President Laporta declared they can make signings of great magnitude, it is a harsh reality that in financial situations, they can't compete with Manchester City. However, one important fact that may allow Olmo's Barca move deal is that the player prefers Barcelona, which might help the way it did in Nico's deal.
Though further confirmations regarding the transfer of Dani Olmo are awaited, Barca needs to be quick to ensure the player represents the Catalan side in the 2024/25 campaign.
