The hunt for a new coach stretches on for FC Barcelona. Sporting Director Deco has already talked about how Rafael Márquez is on the list of candidates for the managerial role in the first-team. The Mexican gaffer might very well be a great fit for the club, who has spent a major chunk of his playing career at the Catalan capital.
Former Barcelona teammate Pedro Rodríguez had a few words to say regarding the future of FC Barcelona.
"I would have liked Xavi to continue, it's a shame because he is a great coach and a friend too."
"Rafa was an incredible player, and now, as a coach, he is doing very well. I hope he is a solid candidate if Xavi leaves. I wish Rafa all the luck. I hope he can be the coach of Barça."
Even though Rafa knows the club in and out, Deco doesn't think he is ready for the big role yet. In an interview with OnzeTV3, the former Portuguese international spoke about Rafa's prospects of being the first-team coach.
"Márquez is a person who is growing within the club, but he would only be the first-team coach in case of an emergency."via OnzeTV3
FC Barcelona's Next Gaffer
The question still remains as to who will be the next manager of FC Barcelona. There are many candidates on the list including former Bayern Munich and Germany coach Hansi Flick and Thomas Tuchel who will be leaving Bayern at the end of the season. They are the prime prospects as Hansi is a free agent and Tuchel will be leaving Munich at the end of season.
As Barça might not be open to spending money for a new coach, these two remain on the top in the list of candidates. Other names on the list include German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, PSG gaffer Luis Enrique and Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso.
