The last few days have seen FC Barcelona active in the summer transfer window. From completing their dream signing of Dani Olmo to inquiring about Fede Chiesa and Kinsley Coman for left-wing and being on the verge of selling Julian Araujo, much has been happening at the Blaugrana club. Moreover, a recent report further suggests that Barca seems interested in signing a full-back.
FC Barcelona looks up to Sergio Reguilon for the full-back role
According to updates, FC Barcelona has made inquiries about the possibility of signing a former Real Madrid star. Sergio Reguilon, a Castilla prodigy who has served on some occasions as the lead left-back, is on Barcelona's targets to reinforce their left flank. Having served a considerable duration of his career in La Liga, the left-back could be a decent profile for the Catalan club.
Even though Hansi Flick's squad boasts some young talents for the esteemed role, a significant purpose of enquiring about Reguilon might be his La Liga experience. Considering that Alejandro Balde made his debut just two years ago and is coming on the back of a major injury, he might not transition that smoothly into the main squad.
Moreover, with his preseason minutes being limited, the Spanish full-back hasn't gotten much game time recently. On the other hand, Alex Valle doesn't look match-ready either. Though the youngster looked extremely good in the first two preseason games, he got badly exposed upon facing the pacy Rafael Leao, and thus, he needs more experience to get into Barca's XI.
Considering these scenarios, Sergio Reguilon, who has spent most of his playing time in the Premier League and La Liga, could be a significant addition to Barca's squad. On top of that, Tottenham wishes to sell him and might agree on a comparatively modest amount, as compared to other players of this profile.
Currently, the Sergio Reguilon deal is in its initial stages, but it won't be surprising if Barca makes him a priority and ends up bringing their former Clasico opponent.
