FC Barcelona's ace midfielder to miss International break for completing recovery
- Although Frenkie de Jong returned in Barca colors in the last fixture, he isn't ready to start a game yet.
- As per reports, FC Barcelona's star de Jong is to miss the International break to complete recovery.
Since his signing in July 2019, Frenkie de Jong has been one of the most consistent mainstays in the FC Barcelona setup. Having played over 200 games for the Blaugrana side, the Dutch star has been one of the very few players to have crossed such an impressive feat. However, the last few seasons had been much more challenging for the midfield ace, as evident in the club's season record.

In the last campaign only, de Jong had faced 3 injury suspensions only for his ankle issues, which had kept him on and off for the majority of the 2023/24 season. Not only did this prove detrimental for FC Barcelona's club midfield last campaign, but it also took a significant toll on the player's ankle, which had developed chronic instability in the concerned region.
Although a few days ago, after being injured for more than 5 months, de Jong returned to the field, he hasn't been at his full fitness yet. While, as expected, debuting in the new season for the midfield star felt like a new start, with the home fans welcoming him back with a standing ovation and him looking solid in the double-pivot role also, reports mention he still isn't ready enough for the ultimate test.
As per reports from Diario SPORT, Frenkie de Jong, who did feature in the last few minutes of Barca's UCL matchday, is not yet ready to play a full match. In fact, the report further mentions that the pivotal ace will not be called up by the Netherlands for the October International Break as he continues in Barcelona to return to his full fitness.
From FC Barcelona's perspective, managing de Jong's workload in his initial return days is much more important as the club approaches the most crucial matchdays of this calendar year. Just after the international break, the Blaugrana club would face European giants like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in consecutive fixtures, where they need the Dutch star at his full fitness.
Being already working with the bare minimum midfield options available, Barca doesn't want to welcome any new injury to de Jong further. Overall, with Barca boss Flick and the staff on a mission to get the best out of Frenkie de Jong, much would be expected for him to return to his best level soon.
