FC Barcelona are trying their best to sign Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia. After the club's top midfielders got injured, it became a necessity to come up with a backup. Also, the Catalan giants still haven't found a successor to the defensive mid position.

As the days pass, it seems harder and harder for Barça to sign new players for the upcoming transfer market. Vitor Roque is facing registration problems and Barcelona can't guarantee a different situation for new upcoming players.

Among the chaos, Girona boss Míchel has broken ice on the matter. The Spanish manager believes that his midfielder is going nowhere this season and will stay. In an interview with Diario AS, he said,

"I have the feeling that Aleix is not going to leave"

The Gaffer also explained how it would hurt to see his player leave.

"But whether he goes to one team or another, it would hurt me because we would lose him. We are not at the level of Barca. We want to continue growing as a club and to do so, we need players of Aleix's level. It would hurt me because we lose potential, but I have the feeling that he is going to continue."

In December Girona President Delfi Geli also claimed that no one is leaving after analysing the situation.

"We, above all things, want all players to stay with us. I understand that in a market you can say and talk about things. In the end, there is only one clause that can let a player leave."

The president also spoke about Aleix and his commitment towards the club.

"Aleix is totally involved in the season and our project. He is happy and will continue with us if there is nothing new. I don't know if Barca wants him or not, but he is our player and that is what he counts at the moment."

It is understandable that Girona is trying to calm the fumes surrounding the club at a time when they are performing at their best. But Aleix himself didn't fill fans with confidence when asked about the rumours.

"I don't know"

The 26-year-old midfielder told a fan during an open training session in December.
