FC Barcelona's winning streak of 5 games has come to an end as AS Monaco defeated the Blaugrana club 2-1 in their UCL season opener. Throughout the game, the French club looked dominant against Barca and very well deservedly got a win. However, it all started going wrong early in the game, when a mistake from Ter Stegen resulted in Garcia's red card suspension.

Being reduced to 10 men, just a few minutes into the fixture, the Catalan club couldn't properly come back in the fixture again. Apart from the technical changes that forced Pedri to go behind, reducing their offensive plays, the red card disturbed the club's overall momentum. Speaking of Garcia's suspension influence on the game, Flick remarked,
""I don't think this would have been the same match if we had 11 men. We have to accept the red card; it's not in my hands. We can't change it.""

Of the few positives from the fixture for FC Barcelona, Lamine Yamal's performance stood brilliant. In response to Akliouche's go-ahead goal, the 17-year-old had found the equalizer for his side in the 28th minute. Through an inch-perfect left footer, Yamal made it 1-1 for Barca and was brilliant throughout the game; however, his sole effort wasn't enough to get some points from the fixture.
Hansi Flick had much appreciation for the youngster, whom he had to substitute for managing his workload. Flick commented,
""Lamine tried everything today. It was a complicated match for him. We replaced him thinking about Sunday.""

However, despite the unit's overall mediocre performance, the German manager has once again backed his players, saying that he is much more optimistic about the team. Displaying the traits of a great leader once again, Hansi Flick said,
""I'm very proud of this team. We have to accept the loss, but we have 7 matches to go. I'm sure we'll come back.""

Given the new format of the Champions League, applicable from this season, one loss wouldn't matter much, and as Flick said, he believes the club can come back. Not forgetting that big things always start with a failure, Barca fans have much faith in Flick's Barca and believe the club would come back stronger than ever.
