Hansi Flick speaks on FC Barcelona's chances in their key matchday against Girona

FC Barcelona has had a brilliant start in their 2024/25 campaign. Having won the four fixtures so far, consecutively, Barca eyes a potential 5th win against their Catalan rivals, Girona, in their upcoming matchday. While FC Barcelona's recent form has been excellent, with the club being equally outstanding in all aspects, Flick's side would certainly be cautious against Girona.

Not to forget, in the battle of the two Catalan clubs last season, Girona and Barca, both had a win, ultimately leading to FC Barcelona losing the title race to rivals Real Madrid much earlier. Recently, Los Rojiblancos, winning their 5th matchday, has moved to 11 points, and today's fixture would be a much more important one for Barca's La Liga season ahead.

Speaking to the media, Hansi Flick mentioned that Girona can be a complicated side, and a lot will depend on how Barca kickstarts the fixture. Flick said,

""Girona is a complicated team that is playing in the Champions League. But we have confidence after four consecutive wins. It's all about the way we start the match.""

FC Barcelona comes into the fixture, dismantling Real Valladolid 7-0, and while it has been a significant break between the two fixtures, what hasn't changed is the lineup's mentality. It has been clearly evident that, unlike the last few campaigns, where the squad's intensity didn't look the same in the final minutes, Flick's Barcelona has been hungry for goals from the beginning to the end.

Praising the squad's mentality to keep their hunger for big wins and more goals, Flick remarked,

A brilliant aspect that has been rumored in recent weeks has been the return of Barca's young prodigy, Ansu Fati, and the heart of Barca's midfield, Gavi. While reports had Gavi return a bit late, Fati was looking quite close to a return in the Girona matchday, but Flick had this to say on both of them:

""We are happy to have him back. He could be back next game. Gavi could be back a little bit later, but Fati could be back next Tuesday.""

Being the talented winger he is, with his desire to succeed at the Blaugrana club, Fati could work wonders in Flick's Barcelona setup. But for the time he is not available, FC Barcelona still looks much more balanced and strengthened as compared to Girona. However, much can't be said beforehand: Barca fans would expect the club to continue their winning streak.
