Jean-Clair Todibo, ex-Barcelona defender, revealed a sensible rule they had to follow during training sessions. In a recent Ligue 1 show he said,

"In Barcelona they didn't allow us to touch Messi in training. It sounds crazy, but it's true. We had to be careful"

The Nice defender also explained how it was rational to follow such guidelines.

" It's normal, he's the best, you don't want to hurt him. It was logical."

The French defender joined Barcelona in 2019 on a free. He was 20 at the time and displayed immense potential. Coming out of one of the hotbeds of European talent, Todibo was destined for greatness.

Although after joining Barcelona, things took a 180-degree turn. The defender made only 4 appearances for the club in a span of two years. He also spent a considerable amount of time out on loan at Schalke and Benfica.

A spiral of loan spells ended with another one at Nice, where later the French club sealed the deal for a permanent move. The Catalan club didn't stop believing in the Frenchman, but rather he wasn't needed. The fact that the Spanish giants retained 20% rights of future sales proves their faith in the defender.

Todibo found a good footing back home. At Nice, he has become the part of one of Europe's best defense lines. The French club has conceded only four goals in Ligue 1 and not a single one in 2 months. The Frenchman explained their success in a single line,

" It's not just because we defend well, I think it's also because we attack in a way that gives us a lot of control"

Jean's market value is at an all-time best of €30 million, and big clubs like Manchester United are after his services. If the Red Devils pursue their interests, then it will only be for the better, as Barça will turn in a profit of €6 million for the books.
