FC Barcelona confirmed in an official statement that Marcos Alonso will undergo a back surgery to solve his ongoing lumbar problems. The official statement states that the operation will be conducted this week.

"The first team player 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼 will undergo surgery next week to solve the lumbar problems he is experiencing. At the end of the intervention, a new medical report will be provided."

The Spaniard has been absent since the beginning of December 2023 and is anticipated to skip a total of 15 games. The 33-year-old left back arrived at the Catalan capital in 2022 and has made 44 appearances so far, scoring 3 in the process.

The rise of Balde and the arrival of Cancelo in 2023 hasn't done Marcos any good. His contract ends in June and Barça might let him go.

FC Barcelona Take To Court After Libero's Failure To Pay €40 Million For Barça Vision

In another news, FC Barcelona is taking legal action against Libero Football Finance AG after the company failed to meet contractual agreements. Libero bought 10% of Barça Vision for €40 Million but still hasn't made the payment.

The deadline was set for August 2023, but the Spanish club extended it upon request. The new deadline was 31 December 2023 which has already passed. Barcelona hasn't received any payment from the financing company and has launched a legal suit against them.

Now, Barça is looking for new suitors to buy the 10% of Barça Vision. Originally, the Catalan giants sold 49% of the audiovisual company to Orpheus Media and Socios.com for €200 million. This helped the club gain some financial leverage following their downfall.

Later, Libero and NIPA repurchased 29.5% from the initial 49% for €40 Million. Barcelona is yet to receive any payment and will proceed further in the court.
